I am from the Caribbean, specifically a bucolic village called Moruga situated on the southern most point of Trinidad, just miles from Venezuela. Moruga is filled with some of the most intoxicating vistas, boasts a rich history and has immense character, and characters. Indigenous Indians from Venezuela frequented the village, using it as a main point of access, Christopher Columbus’s discovery of Trinidad was there and the first free African-American slaves to move to Trinidad in the 1800’s resided there. Further, and possibly more globally known, it is home to the world’s hottest chili pepper, the Moruga Scorpion. Its makeup is multi-ethnic, multi-faceted and full of color. So, it makes perfect sense that everywhere I go, I carry with me my heritage, color, and a little heat, especially in my men’s fashion tastes and choosing.
During London Fashion Week Men’s Autumn/Winter 2017 season I took inspiration from my hometown and donned a verdant ensem for the second day. I am seriously just kidding (about the outfits’ inspiration that is and not Moruga) but wouldn’t it be awesome if my #OOTD’s and men’s fashion looks were inspired by my favorite home.
